Blue Light

Blue Light is a series of photographic works exploring colour, movement and mark-making through light and long-exposure photography.

The series captures gestures and movement during the process of drawing with illuminated forms, creating dynamic compositions of colour, energy and light. Through the movement of both camera and light source, fleeting actions are transformed into vibrant abstract images.

The works draw upon the visual language of painting, replacing brushstrokes with trails of illumination. These energetic drawings are made directly with light, resulting in compositions that exist between photography and painting. The images occupy a space defined by abstraction, rhythm, pattern and colour.

Presented as photographic prints, Blue Light explores the expressive potential of light as a creative medium, transforming simple movements into luminous and unexpected visual experiences.

All the Blue Light artworks can be purchased in two sizes. Giclée printed onto 305gsm white matt archival art paper using fade resistant pigment inks. They are supplied unframed and signed by Patrick Murphy. All prints are tissue rolled and mailed in a sturdy protective tube.
